“Why are they playing so many T20s in the 50 over WC year?” – Twitter reacts as India will be playing 10 game series in West Indies

The cricket fraternity’s attention is completely towards the ongoing edition of the cash-rich Indian Premier League. The IPL carnival will come to a close on May 28.

With over two months of power-packed cricketing action left in store, there are several other important events lined up ahead in the ongoing calendar year. After the two-month IPL festival, the international action will go all guns blazing.

More importantly, two ICC events are scheduled to be held this year, with the ICC WTC Final slated to be held from June 7 to 11, with June 12 set as the reserve day. After that, the Asia Cup 2023 is scheduled to be held in the September window.

The all-important ICC ODI World Cup 2023 will be held entirely in India for the first time. The mega event will be held in the October-November window. Besides that, there are a lot more bilateral series to be played as well.

India will be playing 10 game series in West Indies

Meanwhile, according to a source from Cricbuzz, it has been learnt that Team India will be playing 10 game series in West Indies from July to August 2023. India will play two Tests and after which, they will play three ODIs and five T20Is.

The fans are indeed confused as to why the team is playing so many T20Is when the ODI World Cup is slated to be held later this year. After locking horns with the West Indies cricket team, India will jet off to the Ireland cricket team to play the three-match T20I series.

Earlier, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) made its stance quite clear about not letting Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli take part in the T20I series. As things stand, Hardik Pandya is the T20I captain.

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have been instructed to play only Tests and ODIs, keeping the WTC Final and the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 in mind.
