“We neither need seaming nor turning tracks” – Former India cricketer feels that India needs absolute road pitches to win the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023

Aakash Chopra, a former cricketer for India, has said that the Indian team needs flat batting wickets in order to win the ODI World Cup in 2023. After Australia’s 21-run victory in the third and final ODI match at the M.A Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on March 22, he has made these comments.

Aakash, thinking about the wider picture (the ODI World Cup), reflected on the team’s defeat by saying they need flat pitches to win the major tournament. The former cricketer-turned-analyst spoke on how the bowling-friendly conditions helped the other side as Team India battled in the run chase.

What did Aakash Chopra say?

“Plenty of questions to ponder. A huge takeaway for me is that we will need absolute road-like pitches when the World Cup happens because we neither need seaming nor turning tracks. When the ball was swinging, we faced difficulties. We lost five wickets while chasing 180 once and were bowled out for 117 the second time. When the ball turned, we couldn’t chase a 270-run total,” Aakash said in his YouTube video.

The Men in Blue put up a valiant fight and forced the contest into the last over, but the Australian bowling attack ultimately prevailed. It’s important to note that Adam Zampa took a fantastic four-wicket haul, which swung the tide in Australia’s favor and ultimately contributed to the series victory. As a result of the victory, Steve Smith and company are now ranked higher than India in ODIs according to the ICC.

In addition, it’s been four years since India’s national team last lost a home international series. The Men in Blue won 24 series during this time and tied twice.
