“We Missed Harshal With The Ball,” Says RCB Captain Faf du Plessis After Defeat Against CSK

The Royal Challengers Bangalore suffered their second defeat of IPL 2022 last night against the Chennai Super Kings. Playing at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai, RCB skipper Faf du Plessis won the toss and elected to field first. Harshal Patel was not a part of the RCB playing XI. Suyash Prabhudessai replaced him.

It has been the trend of the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League that the captain winning the toss decides to field first. Speaking about the match between the Royal Challengers Bangalore and the Chennai Super Kings, the Bangalore-based franchise got off to a good start as they dismissed Ruturaj Gaikwad and Moeen Ali in the first seven overs, conceding only 36 runs.

Robin Uthappa then joined hands with Shivam Dube to stabilize the Chennai Super Kings innings. The two batters settled down in the middle and then switched gears to destroy the RCB bowling attack. Both players registered a fifty each as they added 165 runs for the third wicket.

In the last few matches, Harshal Patel has been a game-changer for the Royal Challengers Bangalore. His ability to take wickets in the middle overs and the slog overs has solved many issues for the RCB skipper. However, yesterday he was unavailable because he left the bio-bubble due to his sister’s death. CSK ended up scoring 216/4 in 20 overs.

You see the value Harshal offers: RCB captain Faf du Plessis

Speaking to the host broadcasters after his team’s defeat against the Chennai Super Kings, RCB captain Faf du Plessis said:

“You see the value Harshal offers. He’s got the ability to stop to the game. We really missed him tonight. We lacked that variety you need in the attack. A big miss for us. Hopefully, we can have him back soon again.”

Harshal Patel is likely to be available for RCB’s next match against the Delhi Capitals on Sunday evening.
