The 2022 edition of the ICC Women’s World Cup is in its last phase now. The four semifinalists have been decided. No one knew the semifinal lineup until the last over, match between India Women and South Africa Women, highlighting how close the tournament was.
India Women needed just one point to progress to the semifinals of the ICC Women’s World Cup. Even if their match against South Africa Women got abandoned, they would have sealed a place in the next round. A win would have been even better.
Unfortunately, India Women lost a very close encounter on the final ball. Deepti Sharma overstepped in the final over when she got a wicket. Because of that no-ball, the equation went in South Africa’s favor, and they won the match, thereby knocking India out of the tournament.
Indian fans and the players were dejected as a result of the match. The margin between win and loss was quite narrow, and there was much drama in the final over. The video has gone viral on Twitter, receiving close to 4,000 likes inside three hours. It has been viewed more than 100,000 times, while 710 fans have retweeted it.

Speaking at the post-match presentation after her team’s close win over the Indian women’s cricket team, captain Sune Luus said:
“We are extremely happy for Mignon, she has found form at just the right time. We took this match today as preparation for the semi-final and it worked out well for us. It is amazing for Laura to play the way she is. We need to keep going in this manner.”
