Wasim Jaffer chooses his top five Indian batsmen for SCG Test through a cryptic tweet

Former Indian batsman Wasim Jaffer is known for his witty humour and often posts memes on Twitter that grabs the eyeballs of cricket fans around the world. He has become a fan favourite with his tweets so far and he has again proved his humour by posting another cryptic tweet about the Indian batting order for the third Test at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG).

Wasim Jaffer gave his suggestion as to who must be India’s top five batsmen in the third Test at the SCG. With Rohit Sharma available for selection for the third Test, there has been an argument to whether Mayank Agarwal and Hanuma Vihari, who have not performed so far in the Test series, will be able to save their place in the playing XI. Wasim Jaffer tweeted:

“Today I had nice filter coffee by the lake. Amazing how fish can breathe underwater. Then I walked past a potrait of Che Guevara before bumping into an old pal from Dombivali who now has a restaurant in Borivali.”

Decoding Wasim Jaffer’s cryptic tweet

“Today I had nice filter coffee by the lake”, this sentence probably referred to the selection of KL Rahul in which Wasim Jaffer gave the “Koffee With Karan” reference. Selection of Rahul is something that Wasim Jaffer had vouched for in the second Test too. KL Rahul had been leading the Kings XI Punjab and since Wasim Jaffer was their batting coach, he has seen the Karnataka batsman closely and believes he is in scintillating form. Thus he is hopeful that Rahul gets a chance as he is an in-form opener.

“Amazing how fish can breathe underwater” this sentence likely was referring to Shubman “Gill”‘s selection in the side as the second opener. Gill impressed one and all with his performance in the Boxing Day Test and Wasim Jaffer believes Gill deserves an extended run. “Che Guevara” clearly meant Cheteshwar Pujara and although he isn’t in great form, Wasim Jaffer believes he is a crucial batsman for Team India.

Lastly, Jaffer used the locations of both Ajinkya Rahane (Dombivali) and Rohit Sharma (Borivali) to finish his top five for the SCG Test. It will be interesting to see what combination the Indian team goes in with.
