Why is David Warner Not Captaining SRH Anymore?

The David Warner-led side has so far had an obnoxious stint in this year’s IPL as the team has consistently savoured a bad taste in their mouth with woeful performances.

Ever since their inception in the cash-rich cricketing fiesta, they have been doing a decent job that has left the expectations pretty high from them. The presence of David Warner has simply skyrocketed those expectations.

Now in the ongoing scenario, Sunrisers Hyderabad has opted to change their captain as Kane Williamson has been handed over the captaincy. As soon as the captaincy switch happened, there was a massive roar that led to countless speculations stating that David Warner may very well be pulling out of IPL given the glaring concern of Covid.

What happened to David Warner?

Australian cricketers, Adam Zampa, Kane Richardson and Andrew Tye have already withdrawn from the tournament citing fears of safety and bubble fatigue. The Australian Cricketers Association chief, Todd Greenberg said in an interview that the Australian cricketers are anxious regarding the latest developments.

The Australian government has thwarted any flights from India until May 15th which makes the returning scenario grim for the present Australian cricketers.

It was expected that David Warner and Steven Smith would have similar fears as the moratorium on Indian flights come into the picture. However, the opening batsman of Australia has made his intentions clear that he is not going to withdraw from the tournament and has no wishes of giving up on his IPL dream.

Warner tweeted, “Losing hurts and things may not be going our way but what I do know is we are fighters. We will never give up. #sunrisers #orangearmy”.

IPL 2021 points update

Sunrisers Hyderabad has been struggling vehemently at the rock-bottom of the table that has seen them winning a solitary fixture from the seven games which have completed the half-turn of the wheel.

The teams that lead the contest at the moment are Chennai Super Kings, Delhi Capitals, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Punjab Kings who are now in the top four of the table.

David Warner in IPL 2021

Warner has always been a big name for Sunsrisers Hyderabad as he has contributed unreservedly for the Orange Army with his blade. Even in 2021, Warner has managed to stitch together 193 runs from 6 games that include two fine half-centuries.

If there is one thing that has notably went down from Warner, that is his strike rate and if he fails to mend that part, things would turn to be tricky for him.
