Virat Kohli Becomes The Most Searched Indian Cricketer Of 2021

2021 has been a tough year for Virat Kohli. When the year began, he was the captain of the Indian cricket team in all three formats of the game. He also had the captaincy position in the Royal Challengers Bangalore team. However, in the last 12 months, Kohli has not been at his best. He could not manage his workload, hence he decided to step down as India’s T20I captain and Royal Challengers Bangalore’s skipper.

Virat Kohli captained India in the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 before stepping down as the captain. However, in that competition, he became the first Indian cricket team captain to lose a T20 World Cup match against arch-rivals Pakistan cricket team. The right-handed batter later lost his ODI captaincy and was involved in a controversy with the BCCI President Sourav Ganguly.

Another thing that did not go in the favor of Virat Kohli was that he could not win the IPL as the captain of the Royal Challengers Bangalore team. The right-handed batter also lost the ICC World Test Championship Final match as captain against New Zealand.

Despite all of this, Virat’s popularity was not impacted, as he has ended 2021 as the most-searched Indian cricket star on Google this year. Kohli is undoubtedly the most popular cricketer of the modern era. He is the most-followed cricketer on Instagram, and his fan following is in millions on other platforms as well.

Virat Kohli will be keen to end 2021 with a win against South Africa

Although 2021 was not the best year for Virat Kohli as a cricketer, he will be keen to end the year on a winning note. The Delhi-based star is currently in South Africa with the rest of the Indian Test squad. The Indian cricket team will soon play a 3-match Test series against the Proteas, with the first Test starting on December 26.

Kohli and Co. will try to win the Boxing Day Test match and start the series on a winning note. It will be interesting to see how the Indian team performs in their last Test match of the year. India have never won a Test series on South African soil ever before.
