Two Indian captains who have never suffered an innings loss in Test Cricket history

A rare feat about not suffering innings defeats

It is a starry feat for any Test captain of the world to not concede any innings defeat. That is what makes these captains so special, given to the additional brilliance that they bring along with them.

With the recent hue and cry ringing through the ranks of the Indian Test team as their batting line-up have been crumbling like a house of cards too frequently, the feat of not getting bundled out in less than 100 has apparently gained recognition too.

There are only two Indian Test captains to have achieved both this feat with a minimum of at least 10 Test matches under their belt.

Azharuddin and Dravid are the only Indian captains to have achieved this rare feat

Mohammad Azharuddin and Rahul Dravid are the only Indian captains to play at least 10 Test matches as a captain and never concede an innings defeat and never see their side getting skittled out less than 100 runs.

Azhar took over the mantle from Krishnamachari Srikkanth in 1989 and led India in 47 Test matches, winning 14 out of them.

Rahul Dravid, on the contrary, was a very underrated captain of the Indian cricket team and isn’t much spoken about. However, he spearheaded India’s first Test series win in West Indies.

He also helped India to script a remarkable Test series win against England in 2007. Sadly for him, Dhoni was already on the rise and the management wanted him to take over things in the longer format as well.

The points of innings defeat came fresh as India struggled badly against England in the third Test at Headingley, with a series defeat and a humiliating 78 all out.

This is the second time that India have been skittled out below 100 runs in the last nine months, as it happened for the first time in December against Australia when they were bundled out for 36.

India’s middle-order has been below par and batting collapses are becoming a frequent scenario. However, India will hope to set things right at The Oval, as the two teams are locked in an impasse in the ongoing 5-match series.
