Twitter user shares amazing co-incidence of Rohit Sharma with India’s 1000th ODI

Rohit Sharma has had a lot of co-incidences with the number 1000 in international cricket

Rohit Sharma is one of the best players in the world right now in white-ball cricket and also the captain of India. He has got plenty of records to his name already, but he also has an amazing co-incidence with the number 1000. Rohit has been involved in so many special occasions which has marked the number 1000 in some way in international cricket.

The current co-incidence that we are talking about is the fact that Rohit Sharma is going to captain India in the country’s 1000th ODI which will be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. But, Rohit was also the captain of India when they were a part of the 1000th T20th game played at the international level in 2019.

When Rohit scored a hundred in England in 2017 in a white ball game, it was the 1000th international hundred scored on the English turf across all formats of the game. Another amazing co-incidence that is associated with Rohit involving the number 1000 is that he hit India’s 1000th recorded six in test match cricket back in 2015.

Rohit Sharma has got some other amazing numbers to his name as well

Rohit Sharma is a player who has got some other amazing numbers to his name as well, apart from these co-incidences. He is the only player in the history of international white-ball cricket who has scored three double hundreds. The other players who have scored international white ball hundreds have been able to do so only once.

Also, Rohit is the only one who has crossed the 250-run mark in a single white ball innings ever when he scored 264 against Sri Lanka at Eden Gardens. These are, however, the records of ODI cricket. When it comes to T20 international cricket, Rohit is the only player in the T20I history who has scored 4 hundreds.

There have been players who have scored more hundreds than Rohit in T20 franchise cricket, but no batsman other than Rohit has scored 4 hundreds in T20 international cricket.

Rohit also holds the record of hitting the most number of sixes by an Indian batsman across all formats. He has hit a total of 457 sixes for India in all three formats combined and second on the list is the former Indian captain MS Dhoni who hit 352 sixes in his career. The gap is a massive 105, which is quite extraordinary. Apart from Rohit and Dhoni, no other Indian batsman has hit 300 sixes in international cricket yet.

I write a bit on cricket and I am more interested in technical and tactical side of the game, rather than bravado.
