Coming into this game, Pant was under pressure. He had a forgettable outing at Wanderers and needed a good knock to stop the talks around him. For him, the situation was hard, but he displayed good maturity. He attacked the deliveries calculatingly and also left a few of them. Pant’s defence was also top-notch. Of course, in his trademark style, he also hit a few boundaries. Combining with the tail-enders, the southpaw added some vital runs to the total. Overall, Pant scored 100 runs from 139 deliveries, with six boundaries and four sixes. Pant scored more than half of India’s runs and also remained unbeaten at the end.
