Dale Steyn made a big announcement related to his cricketing career today. The right-arm fast bowler from South Africa has decided to hang up his boots after an illustrious career. He represented the Proteas at the international level, while in the IPL, Steyn played for the Deccan Chargers, the Gujarat Lions, the Royal Challengers Bangalore and the Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Steyn achieved a lot of success in the longest format of the game. In all, the right-arm fast bowler represented the South African cricket team in 93 Test matches, where he managed to take 439 wickets. His best figures in the Test format were 7/51. In the ODI format, Dale Steyn played 125 ODI matches for South Africa, where he scalped a total of 196 wickets at an average of 25.95.

Dale Steyn also played quite a few T20 international games for the South African cricket team. To be precise, Steyn played 47 T20I games for the Proteas where he was successful in taking a total of 64 wickets. He is one of the few bowlers to have an economy rate of less than 7 after playing 47 T20Is.
Steyn’s best figures in the T20I format were 4/9. He played his last T20I match against Australia at Johannesburg last year. His last appearance in Test and ODI cricket came against Sri Lanka in 2019. Interestingly, Port Elizabeth was the venue for both matches.
