Twitter reacts as Harshal Patel’s hat-trick helped RCB to get two vital points against Mumbai Indians

RCB finally gets in the winning groove

Harshal Patel proves his worth: It seems that the reigning champions have entered into an endless vortex of chaos as they lost their third match on the trot to impart the bragging rights to Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Batting first, RCB managed to pile up 165 for the loss of 6 wickets. Kohli was off to a flyer despite an early fall of Devdutt Padikkal. Srikar Bharat stitched a decent partnership with the Indian captain as the duo came together for a stand of 68 runs.

The middle-order showdown from RCB

After Bharat was removed, Kohli and Maxwell took over the reins of the onslaught and the Australian middle-order batsman managed to blast an impeccable knock of 56 runs from 37 deliveries, hammering 6 fours and 3 sixes.

Sadly, for the RCB fans, de Villiers failed to score again as there was a late twist in the tale with the Mumbai bowlers reeling RCB back in. Jasprit Bumrah’s fine form continued as he managed to claim three wickets again.

Mumbai was off to a blinder as Sharma and de Kock played an early blitzkrieg. However, once the duo was back to the pavilion, the Mumbai batting order collapsed like a bunch of dominoes with other batsmen not even reaching double figures.

Harshal Patel is back

However, the highlight of the Mumbai innings was the return of Harshal Patel, the purple cap holder by a proverbial mile as he returned to form. He claimed four wickets in today’s game as it was his hat-trick that racked things up so early for Bangalore.

Three of his victims were Hardik Pandya, Rahul Chahar and Kieron Pollard. The onslaught started with Hardik as the Indian all-rounder holed out to Kohli.

This was followed by the departure of Pollard, whose timber went for a walk after the Caribbean all-rounder could barely realize what was he up against. Harshal’s third wicket was a hapless Rahul Chahar who was removed with a perfect delivery that would have gone on to kiss the stumps.

Mumbai could hardly post any resistance at all as they were skittled out for a paltry 111, making their aim of the play-offs much more difficult than one would have imagined.
