This Is Why The WTC Final Was Shifted To Southampton From Lords

In an explosive statement made by Saurav Ganguly he has confessed that the WTC Final has been moved from Lords to Southampton.

The intial venue for the grand finale was scheduled to be at Lords, the home of cricket for England. However, the menace of the Corona virus compelled the match to be shifted to the Rose Bowl in Southampton.

The preffered reason for the game being shifted to Southampton was because of an in-built hotel at the Ageas Bowl.

Saurav Ganguly expressed his desire to attend the World Test Championship finale given India’s rambunctious form in red-ball cricket.

In an interview with India TV, Saurav Ganguly quoted, “It was decided long time ago. Due to Covid and they (in Southampton) have the hotel absolutely close.”

He also said, “When England resumed play after Covid, they had a lot of matches in Southampton due to the same reason.”

England’s games in the preceding year came at Southampton and Manchester’s Old Trafford given the availability of hotels in close vicinity.

The World Test Championship found its two top competitors in India and New Zealand after several tours were compelled to be called off in the preceding year due to the advance of the virus.

India will be coming to the finale after a rollicking display against England at home. Despite trailing in the series, they staged an extraordinary turnaround to challenge the English might and claim the series that secured a berth in the World Test Championship finale.

New Zealand, on the contrary, came to the final on the back of a scintillating display against England that saw them garnering a comfortable victory in the second Test, thereby winning the series too.

This is expected to be a blockbuster clash of two of the best Test teams in the world for the pursuit of the crown in red-ball cricket.
