India and South Africa will be engaged in a five-match T20I series starting on June 9th in Delhi. Since the likes of Rohit Sharma were rested, KL Rahul was given the task to lead the squad. However, one day ahead of the first game, it has been announced that the Karnataka batter will miss the tournament. He has suffered a groin injury and will head to the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru for recovery. Kuldeep Yadav is also injured and has been ruled out of the series.

Rishabh Pant has the experience of captaining the Delhi Capitals in IPL. A few months ago, it was announced by the BCCI selection committee that Pant will be a part of the core leadership group. Now, the 24-year-old will lead the nation for the first time. MS Dhoni was the last full-time wicket-keeper who led India. Since MSD has an illustrious record, fans will expect Rishabh Pant to also do well.
