The Rajasthan Royals all-rounder played a decent knock of 28 runs off 23 deliveries. Ashwin smashed two sixes in his IPL innings. However, in the slog overs, RR decided to send Riyan Parag in the middle because he has a better strike rate than Ashwin.

For the first time in a long time, fans saw a player going back to the dressing room as retired out and not retired hurt. Ashwin had an impressive partnership with Shimron Hetmyer for the fifth wicket before he returned to the dressing room.

“It was a little difficult to start. Their spinners bowled the ball in some really good areas. It wasn’t the easiest pitch to start on – it stayed on the slower side to start off. It was about staying until the end and cashing in later on.”
