Temba Bavuma admits Bangladesh and Sri Lanka have made group 1 tougher

Temba Bavuma captained South Africa brilliantly in their first game against Australia

The South African captain Temba Bavuma has admitted because of the fact that Sri Lanka and Bangladesh have qualified and have been placed in group 1, the group has become tougher than it already was.

According to Temba Bavuma, both Sri Lanka and Bangladesh are subcontinent teams, and they have the experience of playing in these conditions before. So, for both of them to qualify and qualify in such a way to be placed in group 1 itself, it has raised the challenge level for the other teams.

With Sri Lanka and Bangladesh in group 1 now, there are no easy games in that group because the other teams placed in the group were already strong units. A couple of teams, England and Australia, have had great starts and Sri Lanka has beaten Bangladesh as well, but it’s such a tight group that tables can turn at any stage.

“I think the inclusion of Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, two subcontinent teams in subcontinent conditions does make the group a lot tougher. The group was never an easy one, but I think we know that in every game, we are going to have to come with our best cricket,” Bavuma was quoted as saying ahead of South Africa’s second game against West Indies.

South Africa hasn’t made a good start to their T20 World Cup 2021 campaign

Taking about South Africa’s first game against Australia, Bavuma said he can’t fault the bowling and fielding efforts of his players because even while defending a very modest total, they put in more than a 100% effort and at one point of time, they were well and truly in the game.

Temba Bavuma thinks that his boys need to carry on the same sort of intensity that they displayed in the first game. The bowlers will have to try and create as much pressure as they can by consistently bowling in tight areas and the fielders will have to take every single opportunity that comes their way.

I write a bit on cricket and I am more interested in technical and tactical side of the game, rather than bravado.
