Suryakumar Yadav can bat at number 3 in T20 World Cup: Sanjay Manjrekar

The entire Cricketing fraternity is eyeing for the ICC T20 World Cup. The mega event is all set to Kickstart from October. United Arab Emirates will act as the host for the tournament. Previously, the event was to be played in India. However, the sudden rise of Covid 19 cases, bio bubble security, and postponement of IPL 2021 led to this step.

All the nations would be hoping to cater their best side for the mega event. The Indian team is also doing the same as they are playing with two sides. The primary side is touring England, with the young side touring Sri Lanka.

India tour of Sri Lanka will begin from July, with the Indian team being dominated by the young guns and IPL stars. This series can end out as a decider for the T20 World Cup.

The one spot which hasn’t still been confirmed is the number 3 position. India might have to find a proper one-down batter if Kohli opens the innings. However, Sanjay Manjrekar has pointed out his views on it. He feels Suryakumar Yadav is the apt choice for this position.

He stated that “Yes, I think he (Surya) is one of the front-runners, especially with the news coming out that Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are going to be India’s openers. I have rarely seen somebody bat like that in the IPL for the whole season and even more, the kind of batsmanship we have seen. And makes him an ideal number three.”

Suryakumar Yadav bats at number 3 for Mumbai Indians in IPL

Nicknamed as SKY, Suryakumar has been performing exceptionally well for Mumbai Indians at this position. KL Rahul can also be considered a close competitor for him. If Yadav manages to do well in the Sri Lanka series, he can cement his place for the ICC event.
