“Should I tell,” Ravindra Jadeja asks CSK’s twitter admin if he should reveal the names of retentions

Ravindra Jadeja is expected to be one of the players who will be retained by CSK

As the deadline day of the IPL retentions is getting closer, the excitement level of the fans is getting high and the Indian left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja got it even higher yesterday by asking the CSK twitter admin if he should reveal the names of CSK retentions already.

It is likely that all the teams have already made their retention decisions, but the names will be disclosed on the 30th of November. Among the names that CSK are expected to retain are their talismanic captain MS Dhoni, the young batting sensation Ruturaj Gaikwad and Ravindra Jadeja himself.

While these three are almost certain retentions for CSK, there are speculations that England off-spinner Moeen Ali is the favorite to be retained as the only overseas player by the franchise.

CSK wants to retain both Moeen Ali and Ravindra Jadeja because of their allround abilities

The reason why CSK are keen to retain Moeen Ali and Ravindra Jadeja is because not only both of them are batting options in the top 7, they are also the two specialist spinners of the side. With them being retained, CSK will feel they have retained four players rather than two because they will have two middle-order batsmen as well as an off-spinner and a left-arm spinner in Moeen and Jadeja.

CSK twitter admin yesterday posted a link on Twitter where the fans were asked to vote with their own retention choices. While the fans voted in big numbers, Ravindra Jadeja also replied to the tweet asking, “Should I tell?” The CSK fans had a chuckle over it as a few of them even encouraged Jadeja to reveal the names of the retentions already. However, Jadeja was only joking with the CSK twitter admin.

It’s only a matter of a couple of days now before the retentions of all the teams will be out and the preparations for the mega auction will get underway.  However, before the mega auctions, the two new IPL franchises will also be allowed to pick 3 players each from the list of “non-retained” players.
