Rohit to replace Virat?

Rohit Sharma missed the recent South Africa Test series due to an injury. He also will miss the ODI assignment. Having replaced Virat as the captain in the ODI and the T20I Teams, it is natural for anyone to expect that Rohit will take over the mantle in Tests as well.

However, that may not happen. Rohit has been very frequent to injuries and hence, he may not play all the Tests. Moreover, his role as the skipper of the limited-overs team is more important at the moment. Also, he is older than Virat and having Rohit as the Test captain does not sit well in the long-term view.

If not Rohit, the options that the management has at the moment is KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant. However, KL is yet to prove himself as a captain while Pant is too young to take up the role. Hence, the management will have a tough decision to make in the coming days.
