Former England captain Kevin Pietersen had predicted that the final match of the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 will feature the England cricket team and the Pakistan cricket team. However, the prediction has now proven to be totally wrong. Both England and Pakistan qualified for the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 semifinals by topping their respective Super 12 groups.
The England cricket team finished number one in the Group 1 points table by registering victories against arch-rivals Australia, former champions Sri Lanka, qualifiers Bangladesh and defending champions West Indies. Meanwhile, Pakistan were unbeaten in the Super 12 stage. They were part of Group 2 along with India, Scotland, Namibia, New Zealand and Afghanistan. The Men in Green defeated every team to attain ten points and qualify for the semifinals.

The semifinals followed the pattern of winner vs runners-up from the opposite groups. The winner of Group 1 England faced off against runners-up of Group 2 New Zealand, whereas the winner of Group 2 Pakistan was pit against Australia, the runners-up of Group 1. Not many would have expected a New Zealand vs Australia final in the ICC T20 World Cup 2021, but that is the game that will decide the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 champion this Sunday.
The England cricket team lost the first semifinal to the New Zealand cricket team in Abu Dhabi, while the Australian side defeated the Pakistan cricket team in the second semifinal at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

The predictions of many cricket experts have gone wrong in this ICC T20 World Cup 2021. England, Pakistan and India were the top three favorites to win the title.
