Rohit Sharma Gives A Savage Reply To IPL Teams Who Have Problem With Mumbai Hosting Matches

Keeping the COVID-19 pandemic in mind, the BCCI has decided to stage all the league matches of the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League in Mumbai and Pune. Three venues across Mumbai, namely the Wankhede Stadium, the Brabourne Stadium and the DY Patil Stadium will host IPL 2022 League matches along with the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium of Pune.

While it was a great decision to conduct the matches in Maharashtra only, some franchisees were unhappy because the Mumbai Indians would have the home advantage. MI team management has previously clarified that it will be like a neutral tournament because they have not played in Mumbai since 2019. On top of that, most of the players in the current MI squad have never played in Mumbai.

In a recent chat with MI TV ahead of the match against the Delhi Capitals team, the Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma was asked the same question. Replying to that question, he said:

“Many franchises objected that how can Mumbai play in Mumbai. They should try to build 3-4 Stadiums in their cities then.”

Sharma smashed four fours and two sixes in the innings. The right-handed batter will hope that his team gets off to a winning start in the new season. Ishan Kishan batted brilliantly as well and scored 81 runs off 48 balls, smacking 11 fours and two maximums. Tilak Varma also played a good knock of 22 runs on debut.
