1. Most consecutive Man of the Match awards in ODIs

Sourav Ganguly can take pride in the fact that he is the only cricketer to win as many as four consecutive Man of the Match awards in One-Day Internationals. The former Indian captain accomplished the feat in the Sahara ‘Friendship Cup’ which was played between Team India and Pakistan in Toronto in 1997.

Notably, the Indian cricket team won the five-match ODI series by 4-1. Ganguly was adjudged the ‘The Man of The Series’ for his all-round contribution. Ganguly scored 222 runs and took 15 wickets in the series.

2. Highest individual score in ICC Champions Trophy final

Sourav Ganguly holds the record for chipping in with the highest individual score by any batsman in an ICC Champions Trophy final. He scored 117 runs against the New Zealand cricket team in the final.

Ganguly dominated the proceedings by playing a fearless brand of cricket. He scored nine boundaries and four sixes to his name. Unfortunately, India lost the match as New Zealand won by 4 wickets with 2 balls remaining.
