Former Pakistani paceman Shoaib Akhtar recently took a swipe at Babar Azam by claiming that the Pakistan skipper and his teammates can’t speak English properly.
The Rawalpindi Express further claimed that Babar Azam is not a brand in the country because he doesn’t speak English well. Akhtar’s remarks on Babar Azam went viral in no time on social media channels.
The former Pakistani player also went on to question the character of the national cricket team, lashing out at the oratory skills of the players. While speaking to Suno News, Shoaib Akhtar added that there is no character in the team at all.
Furthermore, he said that playing cricket is one job while handling the media is another job. Akhtar said he feels sorry for the players who don’t speak English.
Salman Butt lashes out at Shoaib Akhtar for taking a swipe at Babar Azam
Meanwhile, former Pakistani opener Salman Khan hits out at Shoaib Akhtar for the latter’s recent remarks on Babar Azam. Salman Butt sprung to Babar Azam’s defence and stated that the complete focus should be on his cricketing skills and not the communication problems.
Salman Butt went on to reserve the highest respect for Babar Azam by calling him a great player. While speaking on his official YouTube channel, Salman Butt stated that for a cricketer, only his cricketing skills give him “fame”.
Butt further added that there is really nothing bad if Babar Azam doesn’t have a command of a secondary language. So from Salman Butt’s statement, we can learn that English is just a language and not knowledge about the game.
Babar Azam is currently spicing it up in the ongoing eighth edition of the Pakistan Super League. He is the captain of Peshawar Zalmi franchise and his team is currently third on the table with two wins and a defeat.
