Chennai Super Kings are struggling at the moment in IPL 2022. Although they clinched a victory against Royal Challengers Bangalore, they lost the next game against Gujarat Titans. Now, the team is sitting 9th in the points table with five losses from six encounters. They will next face the tenth-placed Mumbai Indians at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy Stadium on April 21st. CSK will surely make a change or two for that match. In this article, we take a look at one change Chennai Super Kings might make for their next game against Mumbai Indians.
Dwaine Pretorius for Chris Jordan
Dwaine Pretorius for English bowler Chris Jordan is one change Chennai Super Kings might make for their next game against Mumbai Indians. It was surprising that despite the good displays, Jordan has been preferred over the South African all-rounder. However, after giving away 58 runs against Gujarat Titans, Jordan’s place is all set to have a change.
Pretorius has played only two encounters but has impressed with his economy of under 8. He is also a decent hitter down the order. Hence, the South African cricketer might get a chance in the playing XI in the next game. For Jordan, though, unless he really leaves an impression in the nets, he is unlikely to get an opportunity.
CSK might also think of other changes to start afresh
While one change is all but confirmed, CSK could also make a few mother modifications in the XI. However, for that to happen, the management must avoid recency bias toward the players who did well in the previous game against Gujarat Titans. Both Ambati Rayudu and Mukesh Choudhary have had average outings so far but they did well against GT. Hence, CSK might also think of replacing these players.
With the team having an uphill task to make a comeback, CSK could also think of offering a few chances to some youngsters. The likes of N Jagadeesan and Rajvardhan Hangargekar deserve a chance keeping in mind the capabilities they have. While that may not happen against Mumbai Indians, some bold decisions seem to be around the corner for the franchise.
