“No Ball Still Hurts India In ICC Tournaments”- Twitter Reacts As India Women Crash Out Of World Cup Because Of Unlucky No-Ball

The 2022 edition of the ICC Women’s World Cup is currently underway in New Zealand. The four semifinalists of the tournament have been decided. Australia Women, West Indies Women, England Women and South Africa Women will play in the knockout round. Fans expected India Women to reach the semifinals, especially after their brilliant performance against Pakistan Women in the first match.

However, the Indian women’s cricket team lost momentum as the tournament progressed and narrowly missed out on a place in the Top 4. They could have made it to the semifinals had they defeated the South African women’s cricket team in their last group stage match. Unfortunately, a no-ball in the final over from Deepti Sharma allowed the South African women’s cricket team to register a close win.

Talking about the match first, India Women won the toss and decided to bat first. Half-centuries from Smriti Mandhana, Shafali Verma and Mithali Raj guided the Women in Blue to a 274-run total in the first innings. S Ismail and M Klaas picked up two wickets each for the South African women’s cricket team.

In reply, the South African team scored 275/7 in 50 overs. They needed three runs from two balls when Deepti Sharma took a wicket. However, it was a no-ball. So, the equation was down to two runs off two balls, which South Africa scored.

“I have been very fortunate that I have good support from the team. It is special to win this one for the team. We had to take the chase as deep as possible. Qualifying for the semis means a lot! I am thankful to the fans for all the support,” Player of the Match Mignon du Preez said after scoring an unbeaten fifty.
