Virat Kohli: Top Three Performances by The Indian Captain

Most of the knocks that Virat Kohli has played in his career have been quality knocks and have mostly got India over the line as well. And he has not done it in just one format. The Indian captain has been equally effective with the bat for India across all formats of the game.

While most of Kohli’s knocks have been unforgettable, some have been just breathtaking and the fans want to see those knocks time and time again. Here are the 3 best performances of Virat Kohli –

Virat Kohli: 153 vs South Africa

India went to South Africa for a full-fledged tour in the 2017-18 season and it was always going to be a very challenging tour for the visitors, given the fact that the South African conditions were so very different from the subcontinent conditions.

India lost the first Test match of the 3-match Test series and was under pressure in the second Test as well. But that’s where Virat Kohli came to the fore.

With a stroke-filled knock of 153, Kohli made sure India remained in the game in the first innings and South Africa didn’t get a huge lead. India eventually lost the Test, but Virat single-handedly kept them in the game till the very end.

183 vs Pakistan

It was a very crucial game of the Asia Cup between the two arch-rivals and before that game, Kohli had not played too many big knocks against Pakistan in ODI cricket. So, a big knock was expected there and Kohli rose to the occasion.

Against a very potent Pakistan attack, Kohli registered his highest ever ODI score of 183 and made sure India successfully chased down the total of 300 odd runs Pakistan had put on the board batting first.

133 vs Sri Lanka

India was up against a stiff task of chasing a total of 300 odd runs in this game as well, but if they had to qualify for the final of the tri-series, they had to chase the total down in less than 40 overs which was a huge ask.

However, Kohli once again put his hand up and did the job for India with a superb knock of 133.

The right-hander, who batted at his usual position of no. 3, took Sri Lanka’s most experienced bowler Lasith Malinga to the cleaners and along with Suresh Raina at the other end, chased down the total within the required timeframe.
