Sunrisers Hyderabad failed to qualify for the playoffs in the 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League. However, they made sure that they give a new talent to Indian cricket, and he is Umran Malik. The pace bowler from Jammu and Kashmir was initially a net bowler for the Orange Army. But after T Natarajan tested positive for COVID-19, the Sunrisers Hyderabad team management added Umran to their main squad.
Soon after, Umran received a place in the playing XI of the Sunrisers Hyderabad. He impressed everyone on his Indian Premier League by clocking 150 kmph on the speedometer. Very few Indian bowlers can bowl at this pace, but Umran not only bowled at this speed consistently but also broke the record for the fastest delivery bowled by any bowler in the league stage of the 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League.
Umran Malik scalped two wickets in IPL 2021
By the time the league stage ended, Umran Malik had appeared in three matches for the Sunrisers Hyderabad team. He managed to take two wickets for the team, with his best figures being 1/21. Umran bowled an impressive spell in the match against the Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Soon after the Sunrisers Hyderabad’s campaign ended in the 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League, an announcement was made that Umran will stay in the United Arab Emirates and bowl to the Indian batters in the nets during the ICC T20 World Cup 2021.

In 2019 players had to stay at home due to curfew as Srinagar training camp was closed. But this couldn't hinder the path of a 21-year old in Umran Malik to make quick strides in no time, from J&K Ranji Trophy net bowler to the fastest ball this IPL and now team India net bowler.
