“IPL Is Played For 2 Months”- Rohit Sharma Gave Epic Reply To Question If Ishan Kishan Is Opening For India Because Of MI

The captain of the Indian T20I cricket team Rohit Sharma recently disclosed whether the decision to give the opening spot to Ishan Kishan was made because the left-handed batter opens the innings for the Mumbai Indians.

Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan opened the innings together in the first match of the ICC Cricket World Cup Super League series against the West Indies cricket team at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Kishan opened the innings for the Mumbai Indians in their final few matches of the 2021 IPL season. Even now, MI bought him for INR 15.25 crore, and he will open the innings with Rohit.

When asked if the southpaw is opening because he is an opener for the Mumbai Indians, Rohit gave an epic reply and said:

“IPL is played for 2 months, rest 10 months we play for India. There is no consideration of IPL here. Focus is to be on the Indian team.”

Rohit’s reply makes perfect sense because the Indian Premier League team composition is much different than the Indian cricket team’s composition. In the IPL, MI have limited opening options, but in India, Shikhar Dhawan is doing well, while IPL 2021 Orange Cap winner Ruturaj Gaikwad is in the waiting line.

Akash Ambani has confirmed that Ishan Kishan will open the innings with Rohit Sharma for the Mumbai Indians

Fans who compare the IPL with the Indian cricket team must also note that there was a time when Rohit was playing as number three or number four player for MI, but was opening for the Indian cricket team.

Mumbai Indians team owner Akash Ambani has confirmed that Ishan Kishan will indeed open with Rohit Sharma this year for the five-time champions. It will be interesting to see how the right hand-left hand opening pair performs for the team in IPL 2022.
