South African players in doubt for Phase 2 of IPL 2021 due to their Sri Lanka tour

The 2nd phase of IPL 2021 is all set to kickstart within the next few weeks. UAE will act as the host for this season after concluding the successful IPL 2020 edition without any difficulties. Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians will clash in the opening match, which will take place on September 19.

In this phase, A total number of 31 matches will be played over 27 days. 13 games will be held in Dubai, ten in Sharjah, and eight in Abu Dhabi. Dubai will host the IPL final on October 15.

However, the participation from foreign stars in Phase 2 of IPL might be the trouble for BCCI. Australians and New Zealanders will be participating in this event. But there is yet to receive any confirmation from the England Cricket Board for their players. In the same way, South African players are also in doubt for the event.

The SA team has to tour Sri Lanka for their white-ball series, consisting of three ODIs and three T20Is, and ends on September 12. It will be an easy scenario if the UAE allows them bubble to bubble transfer. But it would be a wait and watch moment for the nation.

And by any possibility, if the bubble transfer didn’t happen, then the likes of Quinton de Kock, Kagiso Rabada, and Anrich Nortje might be missing
