3 Players who played in the 2021 WTC Finals but will not play in 2023 WTC Finals

Team India’s next big challenge will be the WTC Finals. Australia will be the opponent for the men in blue. It will not be easy against the Aussies, especially in English conditions. There are a few players who were part of the previous finals but will not play in the upcoming final. Here, we take a look at three players who played in the 2021 WTC Finals but will not play in the 2023 WTC Finals.

1) Rishabh Pant

Rishabh Pant will be a big miss for Team India at the WTC Finals. The wicket-keeper batter was involved in a fatal accident a few months ago and will be out of action for a while.

KS Bharat will be India’s wicket-keeper for the WTC Finals. However, considering he is not experienced in English conditions, the management might risk the option of having KL Rahul behind the stumps.

2) Jasprit Bumrah

Jasprit Bumrah is one of the players who played in the 2021 WTC Finals but will not play in the 2023 WTC Finals. Bumrah has been out of action for a while now. He recently underwent surgery and will not participate in this game.

In his absence, India will have a tough time. Mohammed Siraj and Mohammed Shami will be the lead pacers while Umesh Yadav is likely to come in as the third name in this unit. Shardul Thakur could also get a go.

3) Ishant Sharma

Ishant Sharma has done well for India in England in the past. However, he is currently out of Team India after he he was dropped due to bad form.

The selectors could have considered bringing him back, especially since Bumrah is unavailable. That said, the likes of Umesh Yadav have been with the team for a while now and deserve a chance. Hence, Ishant did not get a comeback.
