R Ashwin recently hosted England Women’s Cricket Team’s Kate Cross on his YouTube channel. The Indian off-spinner interviewed Kate on a variety of topics, including the cricketer’s love for CSK. Kate also reveals her exact reason to start supporting CSK in this interview.
The English cricketer is a vocal supporter of the franchise
From her social media posts, it is clear that Kate Cross is a massive fan of Chennai Super Kings. In many of her interviews, as well, the bowler has expressed her fandom for the franchise. Recently, she also donned the jersey of the franchises and clicked a few photographs.
Kate also mentioned that if there is a Women’s IPL in the future, she would like to represent the Chennai-based franchise. In the interview, she also teased Ashwin if he would be coming back to the CSK unit.
Kate Cross reveals her exact reason to start supporting CSK
Back in 2018, IPL was just starting, and Kate, along with her England teammates, was touring India. She revealed that during this tour, she decided, along with Alex Hartley, that they would start supporting an IPL franchise.
Initially, with Sam Billings and Mark Wood representing CSK, Kate instantly started following CSK and supporting them. This was also the season when CSK won the competition after coming back following a two-year break. While this was the first reason for her to fall in love with CSK, Kate also divulged the predominant cause for her to support CSK.
MS Dhoni is the reason for many to support CSK. Like the others, Kate explained that MSD was why she fell in love with CSK. His presence in the team is what attracted her to the franchise. Concluding the interview, Kate hoped for a Women’s IPL to start at the earliest as it has the potential to lift the women’s format to great heights. R Ashwin, too, agreed on the point.
