KL Rahul’s Name Is Now Officially On Lord’s Honours Board

For any cricketer in the world, it is a moment of immense pride if his name gets embossed on Lord’s honour’s board and KL Rahul recently had a bite at this historic cherry.

Chosen to open the innings after Shubman Gill and Mayank Agarwal were sidelined with injuries, Rahul proved to be a blessing in disguise as he dished out a remarkable century at the Mecca of cricket.

He started the series with an absolute screamer as he stitched a brilliant 84 in the opening innings and was off to a flying start in the second innings before Broad claimed with an unplayable delivery.

He notched up his tempo by a notch or two in the second Test match. After playing an anchor to Rohit Sharma’s early blitz, he shifted gears as soon as Sharma was dismissed.

He played a few ecstatic strokes en route to his marvellous knock of 129 in the first innings that proved to be crucial for India in dismantling England.

A century away from home at one of the most iconic venues in the world got him the lifetime honour of his name being imprinted in Lord’s honours board.

Indian names on the Lord’s honours board

The other Indians who were in the same line with Rahul were Rahane for his excellent effort of 103 in 2014 and Rahul Dravid preceded him with another 103 in 2011.

Sourav Ganguly, the current president of BCCI scored a ton at Lord’s to open his Test account in style. In the same Test match, Dravid missed his century by whiskers, but heralded the oncoming of a storm that took the world by storm.

India’s next Test match will be at Headingley, and it will begin on 25th August. The result of this game will be extremely crucial, as it can seal the fate of the series for India.
