The ICC rankings are one of the best ways to ascertain which are the top cricketers in the world right now. Although there have been some questions raised by fans after seeing the players ranked lower or higher than expected on the ICC charts, one cannot deny the fact that the rating points highlight the recent form and the performance impact of the players.

When one looks at the ICC Rankings now, they will find that the captain of the England Test cricket team Joe Root holds the number one position on the ICC Test Rankings for Batsmen. The ranking says that Root is the best Test batsman at the moment, considering his form in the Tests of late.

1. Sachin Tendulkar

Former Indian batsman Sachin Tendulkar was the first player from the country to accomplish this unique feat. Regarded as the God of Cricket, Tendulkar achieved a rating of 898 points on February 24, 2002. He had become the world number one Test batsman on January 31, 1999. In the ODI format, Tendulkar’s highest rating was of 887 points, achieved on November 12, 1998. He became the world number one batsman on July 6, 2001.

2. Virat Kohli

Current Indian skipper Virat Kohli is currently in the Top 10 of both ICC Test and ODI Rankings for Batsmen right now. Kohli was in sublime touch in 2018, and he attained a rating of 937 points on August 21, 2018. He became the world number one batsman on the same date. In the ODI format, Kohli’s highest rating is 911 points, achieved on July 11, 2018. He became the world number one batsman in ODIs on October 29, 2013.

3. Latest Indian batsman to have 800+ rating points in ICC Rankings of Test and ODI – Rohit Sharma

The most recent player to achieve this feat is Rohit Sharma. The Indian cricket team opener has 813 rating points in Test cricket now. Meanwhile, he also has a rating of 813 points in the ODI format as well. It will be interesting to see which player joins this elite trio in the future.
