RCB bowler Harshal Patel gets close to all time IPL record

Harshal Patel was traded to RCB from Delhi Capitals ahead of the start of this season

RCB bowler Harshal Patel is well on his way of becoming an all-time record holder in IPL as he closes in on Kagiso Rabada and Dwayne Bravo for the record of taking the highest number of wickets in a single season of IPL.

Bravo has got the record to his name for the last 8 years as he had finished the 2013 IPL season with 32 wickets in 18 games, which is the most number of wickets taken by any bowler ever in one IPL season. Kagiso Rabada came close to breaking that record in IPL 2020, but he eventually fell short as his IPL campaign ended with 30 wickets in 17 games.

However, Harshal Patel looks all set to go past Bravo in the ongoing IPL season, as he is just 3 wickets away from the West Indies all-rounder’s highest tally of wickets. Harshal has so far taken 29 wickets in 13 games this season, and he is guaranteed to play at least a couple more games as RCB has already made it to the playoffs.

Harshal Patel has performed excellently for RCB in death overs

Harshal, who was traded by RCB from Delhi Capitals ahead of the start of this season, has been the designated death bowler for the men in red and gold and has been doing the job expertly with a few hiccups here and there.

Harshal has turned out to be a little more expensive than the rest as he bowls the tough overs for the team, but he has got important wickets in almost every game and has played a key role in RCB’s qualification to the playoffs.

RCB, after losing last night’s game to Sunrisers Hyderabad, seems to be going to finish third in the points’ table as their Net Run Rate is quite low as compared to CSK which occupies the second spot in the table.

If RCB does finish third, they will play the eliminator in Sharjah against one of KKR or Mumbai Indians, whichever of them qualifies to the playoffs as the fourth team.

I write a bit on cricket and I am more interested in technical and tactical side of the game, rather than bravado.
