BCCI president Sourav Ganguly has hinted that Sachin Tendulkar might be roped in for some kind of role in the Indian cricketing set up in future. Since the time Ganguly has taken over as the BCCI president, he has already brought quite a few of his old teammates in different roles in the Indian set up.
While Ganguly’s former deputy Rahul Dravid has now replaced Ravi Shastri as the head coach of the Indian cricket team, VVS Laxman has been appointed as the head of National Cricket Academy (NCA) located in Bengaluru.
Recently while interviewing Sourav Ganguly on his show Backstage with Boria, the Indian journalist Boria Majumdar asked him if he had any plans of bringing Sachin Tendulkar in the set-up as well, to which Ganguly said he definitely wants to, but Sachin himself doesn’t want to get involved at the moment.
According to Ganguly, the reason why Sachin doesn’t want to get involved is because there are so many conflict of interest issues going around in Indian cricket and people seem to find conflict in anything and everything these days. It is getting dragged to absurd proportions and if it continues like this, it will be difficult to accommodate the most capable people in the top jobs because there will be conflict somewhere all the time.

Sourav Ganguly was probably hinting towards Sachin Tendulkar’s association with Mumbai Indians, which would put him at conflict of interest if he takes up any role with the Indian cricket team. Sachin was the mentor of Mumbai Indians even in the second leg of the last IPL, where Mumbai failed to qualify for the playoffs.
Since Sachin’s association with Mumbai Indians is not expected to end anytime soon, BCCI will have to find a way to make sure they manage the conflict of interest issue if they have to hire Sachin in some kind of role. But, Ganguly, while talking to Boria, hinted that BCCI is surely thinking on those lines and Sachin might be involved with the Indian cricket team in future.

Sachin Tendulkar, who is arguably the greatest batsman to have ever played the game, is not someone who turned out to be a great captain or tactician, but having gained a wealth of batting experience over the years, he can surely help the next crop of Indian batsmen coming up.
