3 Popular International Bowlers Signed Up By IPL Franchises As Net Bowlers

As per various reports, as many as three international bowlers are signed up by IPL franchises as net bowlers for the second phase of IPL 2021. All three players belong to West Indies. The reports also suggest that another uncapped West Indian pacer will operate as a net bowler in the upcoming competition. Ravi Rampaul, Fidel Edwards, Sheldon Cottrell and Dominic Drakes are the four names involved. IPL 2021 will start on September 19th with the game between CSK and MI.

Franchises leaving no stone unturned for the best possible match simulation

Earlier, in the first phase of IPL 2021, we saw Chennai Super Kings get Hardus Viljoen and two Afghan cricketers aboard as net bowlers. Other franchises have also ensured of having high-quality bowlers at the nets. It seems that teams are leaving no stone unturned in giving the best practice to their batters.

While training is important, the best possible learning can happen only during the games. Nevertheless, it is also necessary to have quality opposition in the nets. A few franchises have identified this area and have already started working towards it.

International bowlers signed up by IPL franchises as net bowlers

West Indies bowlers Dominic Drakes, Fidel Edwards, Ravi Rampaul and Sheldon Cottrell have all been signed up to operate as net bowlers in the UAE leg of IPL 2021. However, there is no news on which franchises have signed them.

While Fidel Edwards, Ravi Rampaul and Sheldon Cottrell are capped cricketers, Dominic Drakes is an upcoming left-arm pacer in the islands. Edwards, Rampaul and Cottrell have all been part of IPL before. All four bowlers are currently taking part in the Caribbean Premier League. Rampaul will play forĀ  West Indies in the upcoming T20 World Cup. Ravi can get ready for the event with his stint in IPL. The other players will hope to impress the franchises. The mega-auction will happen in 2022.
