“My No.1 team at this moment is West Indies and India is No.2”- Saba Karim

Former Indian selector Saba Karim offered his views on the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup event. Many fans would know that the BCCI has officially shifted the tournament from India to the United Arab Emirates and Oman now. Saba believes that the West Indies are the current favorites, while India is at number two.

In a chat with India News, Saba Karim revealed why he felt the West Indies cricket team was the number one favorite for the T20 World Cup. In his view, the number of big hitters present in the West Indies team gave the, an edge over others. Here’s what Karim said:

“My No.1 team at this moment is West Indies and India is No.2. The West Indies team has plenty of match-winners, power-hitters who can hit sixes. India has both youth and experience, so they have a good balance.”

It is interesting to note that the West Indies cricket team is the only one to have won the ICC T20 World Cup trophy twice. The Caribbean outfit emerged as the champions in 2012 and then won the title again 2016. The West Indies team are the defending champions of the ICC T20 World Cup.

England will definitely be strong contenders in the T20 World Cup: Saba Karim

While Saba Karim picked the West Indies cricket team as number one and the Indian cricket team as number two, he added that England are also one of the favorites to win the title in the UAE. He continued:

“But one team about whom we need to necessarily talk about is England. They have brought a different dimension to white-ball cricket and their team is also looking balanced to me. So, they will definitely be strong contenders in the T20 World Cup.”

It will be exciting to see which team comes out on top in the ICC T20 World Cup 2021. The tournament will begin on October 17, two days after IPL 2021 Final.
