Mustafizur Rahman and Shakib Al Hasan to likely leave IPL 2021 early

The 14th edition of the Indian Premier League has witnessed so many ups and downs. Players getting infected, matches getting rescheduled, quarantine norms, and international travel restrictions have been working as the speed breakers for the mega event. After yesterday’s match between RCB and KKR getting rescheduled, now one more obstacle has arrived in the middle. Mustafizur Rahman and Shakib Al Hasan will probably have to go home early.

According to Bangladesh Cricket Board, the Bangladeshi players involved in the IPL might have to return earlier than expected. The main reason behind this is the 14-day quarantine rule which the country has imposed.

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) chief Nizamuddin Chowdhury told Cricbuzz that Shakib Al Hasan and Mustafizur Rahman might have to return home earlier than expected due to the new quarantine rules.

This might prove to be a huge blow for two franchises, namely Rajasthan Royals and Kolkata Knight Riders. Mustafizur Rahman from RR and Shakib Al Hassan from KKR might have to return early from IPL 2021. The main reason behind this might be the ODI series between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, which is all set to begin on May 23. Shakib and Mustafizur could play in the IPL because they were not a part of the Test squad.

Absence of Mustafizur Rahman could hurt Rajasthan Royals

The Rajasthan Royals side has been already facing lots of troubles after so many players had to leave the tournament in a mid-way. After Ben Stokes, Jofra Archer, Andrew Tye, and Liam Livingstone, one more name might be added. If the side manages to qualify for the playoffs, it might prove tough for them to play without Mustafizur Rahman.

The Bangladeshi bowler has grabbed eight wickets in 7 matches. He has proved to be a match-winner for the RR side. It would be interesting to see how the Rajasthan Royals would line up without him if he leaves the IPL 2021 season midway.
