MS Dhoni uses Orange gloves, possibly indicating that this will be his last IPL campaign

In the first game of IPL 2022, Chennai Super Kings were defeated by Kolkata Knight Riders by six wickets. The positive from the game for CSK was the batting of MS Dhoni. When the team came out to the field, though, MSD surprised the viewers with another decision of his. Former Chennai Super Kings MS Dhoni uses Orange gloves in the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League. It is likely that this could be an indication of things to come.

MS Dhoni uses Orange gloves in the game against KKR

When MS Dhoni started his career with Team India, he used to don orange-hued wicket-keeping gloves. However, in recent years, MSD has not used it while playing for Team India or in IPL. That said, a few days ago, he was seen in the Orange gloves in the preparatory camp of CSK. In the first IPL 2022 game, as well, MS Dhoni was using them. Hence, it triggered a throwback to the times of long-haired MS Dhoni, when he was new to the international fold.

A possible indication of things to come?

As per the observation of many, MS Dhoni was not using the Orange Gloves when he was the captain. Now that he is not the skipper of CSK anymore, the legend has picked up the gloves in orange colour. While this is one discussion, there is another debate that this move of MSD is a sign of things to come.

It is well known that MS Dhoni is close to retirement. He is above 40 and is not striking well with the bat as he used to in the past. Captaincy made him an important member but he has now given up that role, too. Hence, there is a talk that he could quit altogether after the end of the ongoing edition. There is a very distant connection between the choice of gloves and the retirement decision but a few fans can’t help relating the two.
