Manchester United To Make Cricket Debut In UAE T20 League 2023

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has hosted many big cricket matches in recent times. Last year, the country hosted the ICC T20 World Cup 2021. Before that, the Gulf nation played host to IPL matches.

Considering the recent matches that have happened in the UAE, there would have been an increase in the interest of cricket among fans. Seeing the potential, the United Arab Emirates will launch its own T20 league in January 2023.

Interestingly, one of the franchises in the league will be Manchester United. Informing the fans about the big news, Dubai Sports Council chairman Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum tweeted:

“I met with Avram Glazer, Co-Chairman of Manchester United, today and discussed ways to work together to further raise Dubai’s profile as a global sporting hub. We also discussed the UAE T20 Cricket league’s launch in Jan 2023 featuring Manchester United cricket team & other teams.”

Many sports fans would know that the Manchester United club plays football in England. Over the years, some of the biggest names in the sport’s history have represented the club. Currently, the world’s most-followed footballer on Instagram, Cristiano Ronaldo, represents Manchester United club.

Mumbai Indians owners are also interested in buying a team in UAE T20 League

Fans should note that prior to the United Arab Emirates T20 league, Manchester United owners showed interest in buying an IPL franchise. Reports even surfaced that they bought the Lucknow team. However, the reports proved to be false.

Now, Manchester United owners have bought a team in the United Arab Emirates T20 league. Apart from them, the owners of Mumbai Indians, Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), have also showed interest in the league. As per reports, the owners of Kolkata Knight Riders and Delhi Capitals are also interested along with the owners of BBL club Sydney Sixers.
