Jaydev Unadkat Sends Subtle Message To Selectors After Missing Out On Squad For New Zealand Series

The BCCI recently announced the Indian cricket team’s Test and T20I squads for the upcoming home series against the New Zealand cricket team. There were quite a few surprises in the two squads. Jaydev Unadkat did not make it to any of the two squads. Star players have opted to take a rest after the hectic tour of England, IPL 2021 and the ICC T20 World Cup 2021. While some have been rested, some have been dropped.

Hardik Pandya, who has not been in the best touch for quite some time, has seemingly been dropped. In his place, the selectors have picked Venkatesh Iyer as the pace-bowling all-rounder of the T20I squad. Iyer made his debut for the Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL earlier this year and impressed straightaway with some excellent performances. He bats left-handed and bowls right-arm medium-fast pace. Iyer is likely to debut for the Indian cricket team in the T20I series against the New Zealand cricket team.

Jaydev Unadkat posted a tweet after the Indian cricket team’s selection for the New Zealand series

It seems Jaydev Unadkat was disappointed after not seeing his name in any of the two squads for the home series against New Zealand. Thus, he tweeted a video of himself playing excellent shots against bowlers in the domestic arena. Unadkat smartly captioned the video clip as follows:

“Just another pace bowler who can bat.. (with a winking emoji.”

The left-arm fast bowler has improved a lot as a batter

Jaydev Unadkat is currently captaining the Saurashtra cricket team in the 2021/22 edition of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. He is primarily a left-arm fast-medium bowler who has gradually improved as a batter. In the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, Unadkat is batting well for his team and also scored a half-century against Hyderabad.

Playing under Unadkat’s captaincy, the Saurashtra cricket team finished second in their Elite Group E just behind Hyderabad. Since they finished second, they have not earned a direct entry in the quarterfinals. They will first have to play in the pre-quarterfinals now to stay alive in the tournament. Saurashtra will battle Karnataka in a pre-quarterfinal match on November 16.
