Last year, MPL was the sponsor of the Kolkata Knight Riders, but this year, Winzo has replaced it. Also, there have been some minor changes in the design of the kit.

Unlike a few other teams, Kolkata have not decided to alter their jersey colors much. The new captain of the team Shreyas Iyer was present at the jersey reveal, and here’s what he said in the voice-over behind the video:

“These are threads born with passion. The same passion that drives those who wear it. This is the uniform of the Knights, the Trailblazers, the Stargazers, the Game Changers. Now is the time to shine. KKR hai Taiyyar.”

Kolkata will play their first match of IPL 2022 against the defending champions Chennai Super Kings in a rematch of last season’s final. CSK prevailed over KKR in the summit clash last year, and the Knight Riders will be keen to avenge that loss.

The Kolkata-based franchise have made quite a few changes since their last match against the Chennai Super Kings. Most importantly, they have changed their skipper. Last year, Eoin Morgan led them in the IPL. Now, they will play under Shreyas Iyer.
