IPL 2022: Details regarding New Retention rules, mega auction are reportedly out

The cricketing fraternity is currently on its feet as the resumption of IPL 2021 has changed the environment. Phase 2 of IPL 2021 will begin from September 2021. UAE will act as the host. The league will resume from where it got suspended.

However, one news that had raised the excitement to a whole new level is regarding the IPL 2022. Earlier few reports stated that the sale of 2 new teams would be completed as early as possible. And now the new rules regarding next year’s IPL have also come out.

BCCI has already made its mind for the mega Auction as new retention policies have been opened. According to the Times of India, the tender for the two new sides will be opening during the mid-August window. And later on, during the October window, the bidding process for the two new sides will take place.

According to new rules, a team can maximum retain four players with a condition of 3 Indians and one foreign player. However, the franchises can also select the strategy of keeping 2 Indians and two foreign players.

The amount for the retention has been kept as 15 crores, 11 crores, and seven crores if the total of 3 players is retained. If the side opts for two players, the retention amount will be 12.5 crores and 8.5 crores. And if the franchisee wants to keep just one player, then the amount will be 12.5 crores.

IPL Mega Auction might take place in December 2021

This policy might turn out to be a boon for some franchises as well as the bane for others. December 2021 will mark the event of the mega Auction for next year’s Indian Premier League. It would be exciting to see how the sides turn out to be after a complete makeover.
