Former Australian cricketer Michael Clarke reacted to Sourav Ganguly’s prediction of India whitewashing Australia and winning the series 4-0. He said that he understands why the former Indian skipper said that but he hopes the visitors bounce back.
Sourav Ganguly predicts India will whitewash Australia 4-0
India and Australia are currently locking horns in the four-match Test series. The hosts displayed a dominant performance in the first two games of the series and it was a testimony of their dominance at home and how have they fared in the home games since the last one decade.
They literally have made a mockery of Australia in two games and the proof of that has been their innings and 132 runs win in the first game and 6 wickets win in the second game. They have taken a 2-0 lead in the series and have retained the Border-Gavaskar Trophy for the fourth consecutive.
Their staggering performance in the first two games made former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly predict that the Rohit Sharma-led side will whitewash the opposition and will the series 4–0.
Speaking to PTI, he said: “I think so. I don’t know how Australia can stop it (a 4-0 whitewash). The problem is, we keep comparing this Australian team from the teams of the past and it’s not the same. You don’t have Matthew Hayden, Justin Langer, Ricky Ponting, Steve and Mark Waugh, (Adam) Gilchrist, you name them. You don’t have that quality.”
Ganguly’s prediction however went in vain as Australia made a staggering comeback in the series. They outplayed the hosts and won the third game by 9 wickets to make the series 2-1. Be it with the bat or with the ball, Australia was better than India and marked their first win in the series. With this win, they also qualified for the World Test Championship Final.

Michael Clarke however, in turn, reacted to Sourav Ganguly’s prediction of India winning the series 4-0 against Australia. He said that. “I hope Australia can bounce back. If they don’t it will be hugely frustrating for every Australian cricket fan. At the same time, I understand why Sourav has predicted 4-0.”
The final match of the series between India and Australia will be played on 9th March in Ahmedabad. It’ll be an extremely crucial match for the hosts as they need to win to qualify for the WTC Final.
