“If MS Dhoni Does Not Play IPL 2023”- Nikhil Chopra Predicts The Next CSK Captain

MS Dhoni has been the captain of the Chennai Super Kings team since the inception of the Indian Premier League. Only Suresh Raina has captained the team apart from Dhoni. Thus, there has always been a question about the next CSK captain whenever one thinks for the future.

As of now, there is no proper answer to the question of the next CSK captain. But the cricket experts have tried to answer that query with their analysis. The latest expert to join the name is Nikhil Chopra who is a former Indian cricket team player.

After retirement, Chopra has worked as a commentator and cricket expert. He regularly appears on the ‘Khelneeti’ podcast. In a recent edition of the show, Chopra discussed who could be the next CSK captain.

He felt that if MS Dhoni does not play in IPL 2023, then the Chennai Super Kings can appoint Ravindra Jadeja as their new skipper.

“Jadeja can definitely be an option as CSK’s next skipper,” said Chopra.

He further mentioned how the all-rounder is in the form of his life right now. Jadeja has done exceptionally well for the Chennai Super Kings in the last few seasons. He played an integral role in the team’s 2021 championship win.

If Dhoni doesn’t play next year, Jadeja could be the next CSK captain: Nikhil Chopra

Nikhil Chopra also pointed out how the Chennai Super Kings retained Ravindra Jadeja as their number one player ahead of the IPL 2022 Mega Auction. Jadeja received a massive contract worth INR 16 crore from the Super Kings.

“That is perhaps the reason why they paid a huge sum for him and if Dhoni doesn’t play next year, Jadeja could be the next captain,” Chopra added.

It will be interesting to see if Dhoni plays in IPL 2023. If not, it will be interesting to see who captains Chennai.
