ICC World Test Championship 2021-23: Full Schedule of Team New Zealand

Being the champions(WTC) of the world in the longest format of the sport, New Zealand will be finally stepping towards the second edition of the tournament in all its pomp and vigour. A Test that was marred by rain for more than half the days saw the Kiwis coming up trumps after a tumultuous batting fiasco from the Indians.

However, this rollicking showdown in the finale was just an extension of what the Kiwis have been doing for the past two years. They waited patiently for every opportunity that came along and was finally able to latch onto the biggest one that cricket gave them after a patient wait of endless years.

Before they arrived in the World Test Championship finale, the Black Caps successfully thumped a soaring England in the latter’s den. They also had a solid end to the preceding year as they trounced the likes of Pakistan emphatically.

The nicest team of cricket blended aggression and calm in perfect proportions that brought about a monumental revolution in the most enduring tournament of all time. The Black Caps built this epic empire throughout the last decennium and their efforts came to fruition in the grandest stages of all.

As the first World Test Championship came to a close, the hype about the second edition of the tournament has already started blowing through the roof. We will take a quick look at New Zealand’s schedule in the next edition of the World Test Championship.

New Zealand’s tour of India 2021 (November)

This will be an exciting opportunity for the Indians to avenge their humiliating defeat in WTC 2021 at the hands of the World Champions, as New Zealand will be touring India for a two-Test match affair and three T-20s. Given the bilateral affair to unfold in the subcontinent, this will be India’s best chance to challenge the might of the World Champions

Bangladesh’s tour of New Zealand 2021-22 (December – January)

Bangladesh will be warring with the World Champions over a span of two Test matches. The last time these two teams collided, the visitors were absolutely crushed and trampled over with zero mercy.

South Africa’s tour of New Zealand 2022 (February – March)

The last time these two teams met was way back in 2017 when the Rainbow Nation prevailed over the Black Caps. However, the dynamics have completely changed and New Zealand is a top team now wherein South Africa still grapples with mediocrity. This will be a standout series as the two teams will play a couple of Test matches between them.

New Zealand’s tour of England 2022 (May – June)

England will finally have the chance to avenge their preceding loss at the hands of the World Champions. Just ahead of the WTC final, England was made to bite the dust by a superior New Zealand. The two teams will be playing out three Test matches amongst themselves.

New Zealand’s tour of Ireland 2022 (June – July)

This will be an exciting Test series given the fact that Ireland will have a bite at the best cherry in the longest format of the sport. It is highly unlikely that we will be looking at any upset but for the Irish force, this will be one hellacious opportunity to make ICC believe that they should get a better shot at Tests. This will be a solitary Test match that the two teams will be playing to joust for one-off supremacy.

Sri Lanka’s tour of New Zealand 2022 (November – December)

This will be Sri Lanka’s crack at the World Champions after the last series ended in a fascinating 1-1 draw. Despite going down 1-0 in the series opener, the World Champions staged an extraordinary turnaround to end the series in an impasse. The two teams will be playing out a two-Test bilateral affair.
