How many more games Chennai Super Kings must avoid losing to stay alive in IPL 2022?

Defending Champions Chennai Super Kings have disappointed their fans so far in IPL 2022. In five games till now, CSK has managed just one victory. Considering the team had retained their core from the victorious IPL 2021 season, their performance till now has been underwhelming. In this article, we take a look at the number of games Chennai Super Kings must avoid losing to stay alive in IPL 2022.

CSK has an uphill task to stay alive in IPL 2022

The Ravindra Jadeja-led squad has so far lost games to Kolkata Knight Riders, Lucknow Super Giants, Punjab Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad and as well as to Gujarat Titans. Their sole victory was against Royal Challengers Bangalore in the team’s fifth game.

In the eight games that CSK has in the group stage, they can afford only two losses so that they can stay alive in IPL 2022. Considering the form of a few cricketers, it is an uphill task. However, CSK is known for comebacks and nothing is impossible for the four-time IPL winners.

The franchise needs key members to fire

One of the main reasons why CSK has suffered so far is because Deepak Chahar was absent. They had hired him at a top price and Deepak was all set to lead the bowling attack. However, he suffered an injury. Now that he is ruled out, CSK must continue the season without their premium pacer.

On the other hand, the likes of Moeen Ali and Ravindra Jadeja are underperforming in IPL 2022. Even Ruturaj Gaikwad and Ambati Rayudu have looked unconvincing so far. While MS Dhoni started the campaign brightly, he has tapered off since then. These factors have contributed massively to the struggles of CSK. The franchise will hope that these players will come to form at the earliest. They can then try and give a good push to stay alive in IPL 2022 from hereon.
