“Hopefully I play my last T20 game in Chennai,” MS Dhoni confirms his participation in IPL next season

MS Dhoni is in Chennai today to attend the events organized by India Cements and CSK limited

Since the last IPL season had finished, everyone had been wondering about the future plans of MS Dhoni as far as his participation in the IPL is concerned. Dhoni was always supposed to be associated with CSK in some capacity, but it was not certain whether he would give it a go as a captain one more time or he was finished with his playing days.

The 4-time IPL winning skipper was in Chennai today to attend the events organized by India Cements and Chennai Super Kings Limited. The event which was organized in the evening by CSK limited was attended by the Tamil Nadu chief minister MK Stalin and some of the BCCI bigwigs including the secretary and the IPL chairman.

MSD, when he attended the India Cements event earlier and was asked if he would be playing the next IPL season, said he hadn’t thought about it yet because IPL is still 4 months away.

But when he went to the CSK event and addressed the fans, Dhoni said he played his last home ODI in Ranchi and he is hoping he plays his last T20 game in Chennai, whether it happens next year or after 5 years.

MS Dhoni now has to make a decision on the retention of CSK

Now that MS Dhoni seems to have dropped the hint that he will be playing the next IPL season, he willl have to decide who are the other 3 players, apart from him, that the franchise will be retaining, going into the mega auction.

It would also be interesting to see if Dhoni declares himself as the first retention of the franchise or the third or fourth retention because the order of retentions decides the salary of the players as well.

The CSK owner N Srinivasan, when asked about Dhoni’s future a few weeks ago, had already said that he would personally want Dhoni to continue leading CSK.

I write a bit on cricket and I am more interested in technical and tactical side of the game, rather than bravado.
