“Hitman Era”- Twitter Goes Berserk As BCCI Names Rohit Sharma As Test Captain

After Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni, Rohit Sharma has become the third player to become the Indian cricket team in all three formats of international cricket in a full-time role. The BCCI chief selector Chetan Sharma said that Rohit Sharma was the clear choice for captaincy after Virat stepped down from the position after the tour of South Africa earlier this year.

Sharma could have made his Test captaincy debut against the South African cricket team only, but because of a hamstring injury, he could not travel with the squad for the South Africa series. In his absence, KL Rahul made his Test captaincy debut, but the Indian team lost that match.

Rohit Sharma will take over as the Test captain ahead of the ICC World Test Championship series against the Sri Lankan cricket team. The islanders will soon visit India for three T20Is and two matches in the 2021-23 ICC World Test Championship.

Fans should note that the Sri Lankan team is number one on the ICC World Test Championship points table right now. They have 100% points to their name, having won their previous series against the West Indies cricket team.

However, defeating India in India will be a huge challenge because even the best teams on the planet have struggled to do so. Recently, the reigning ICC World Test Champions New Zealand came to India and returned home with a 0-1 defeat.

Here is the Indian squad for the Sri Lanka series:
