“He values Ireland more than CSK” – Twitter reacts as Ben Stokes is likely to miss the final stages of IPL to prepare for the one-off Test against Ireland

Chennai Super Kings are one of the most successful teams in the history of the Indian Premier League. Under the tutelage of MS Dhoni, CSK have won more honours and also perfected the art of qualifying for the playoffs, more often than not.

They only missed out on making it to the playoffs only twice in their journey. Apart from that, they have always shown their hunger to win titles. They have won four IPL titles and two Champions League titles and decorated their trophy cabinet.

However, things literally collapsed for the yellow brigade in the last season. CSK ended up in 9th place in the IPL 2022 points table as they were able to win four games and lost the rest of the ten games.

Ben Stokes is likely to miss the final stages of the IPL: Reports

According to a BBC source, the CSK all-rounder is expected to miss the final stages of the Indian Premier League in order to prepare for the one-off Test match against Ireland on June 1.

Ireland’s tour of England comprises one Test and three-match ODI series. Ben Stokes has already retired from One-Day Internationals but is still actively playing the longest format of the game.

The all-rounder is also the skipper of England’s Test team. Since national commitments are the top-most priority, Ben Stokes is likely to skip the final stages of the IPL, in what will be a big blow to CSK’s title hopes.

Chennai Super Kings acquired the services of the prolific England all-rounder for a record INR 16.25 crore at the IPL 2023 mini-auction in Kochi. Thus Ben Stokes became the most-expensive signing for CSK in the history of the IPL.

Ben Stokes has played as many as 43 games in the Indian Premier League wherein he scored 920 runs including 2 tons and 2 fifties at a strike rate of 134.6. He took 28 wickets to his name in the IPL.
